I believe Ponte delle Torri was built as an aqueduct in the 13th century, possibly on Roman foundations. You get a quick glimpse of the ponte as you drive north on the SS just before you enter the tunnel that goes under the town. You can access this location from the fortezza or drive across the SS and up the... more

We (my husband, six month old in a baby bjorn and I) arrived in Spoleto one january evening not knowing much about the city but needing a place to sleep. After dinner we walked in the dark along the path around the castle, no one was around and it was a wonderfully still evening. We "stumbled" upon this massive bridge... more
