I believe Ponte delle Torri was built as an aqueduct in the 13th century, possibly on Roman foundations. You get a quick glimpse of the ponte as you drive north on the SS just before you enter the tunnel that goes under the town. We (my husband, six month old in a baby bjorn and I) arrived in Spoleto one january evening not knowing much about the city but needing a place to sleep.
