Plenty to see. The Saturday market was mainly produce. We were able to buy the famous walnut oil (Noix).

anytime. Saturday market apparently has the geese but the Wed. market was fun, lively, lots of vendors of all sorts, lots of nationalities and the medieval architecture turns everything into a fair!

Nice old city with tiny streets. Lots of restaurants, no good pubs or bars. Market is beatiful saturday mornings. Pretty touristic, but stays oke overall.

Wednesday and Saturday is the market and you dont want to miss it. The town it self is so rich and wonderful to walk thru. You have to see it during the day and at night to truly enjoy it all.

Since the region is known for the 'noix' and duck they had quiet a few stalls that sold fantastic breads and sausages and pates made with these things

Although we were told that the market was only in the morning, we found a great number of booths open when we arrived right at noon. We spent a couple of hours wondering around looking at the the items available and enjoying the old city center. Great place to find souvenirs to take home or to pick up a few... More

We rented a house in Sarlat in March for 1 week and our stay was wonderful. However, like most rentals our departure day was Saturday. On the Friday afternoon/evening we tried to book 2 taxis to take us to the station. Not like Australia where you ring a taxi company.... we had to ring individual cabs. After trying 8 cabs,... More

The one thing that everyone must do when they visit the Dordogne but be prepared and get there early on Saturday morning in high season - it gets very busy. So much to see and so much to be tempted by!!

We decided to go to the Sarlat market based on the recommendation of Rick Steves and it was terrific. There was an amazing assortment of breads, meats, fruits, flowers and other goods. It is regarded as the best market in the area and I cannot disagree.
