Just to the west of Amiens is the Parc Samara prehistoric village and gardens - with people enacting neolithic trades, reconstructed houses, and lots of wild and medicinal gardens to walk through. And at some times of the year they have a tethered balloon (not August). It is well worth going to, especially with children. You will need your own... more
