Beautiful scenery and fun hiking. Varying degrees of difficulty and length of time. Be sure to wear proper shoes and take water.

We visited the calanques by a boat the first day, and we hiked the second day. The views are stunning. The beauty is out of this world. You have to be in good physical shape for the hike: the rocks can be very slippery: so pay attention, and use a stick if you have one.

There are several versions of a calanque-tour. You can go by bigger boats, by canoes or by foot. We chose the boats. Here you can choose from 3-5-8 calanque-tours (30 mins, 1 hr, 1 1/2 hrs accordingly). We took the middle one (cca. 15 EUR). The guide was speaking French during the trip, but he spoke English as well and... More

Loved seeing the inlets and how high the calanques really are from sitting in a boat perspective!!! The water was a bit choppy but our female captain did a wonderful job of keeping to the time table of 45 minute trip doing so much more smoothly than I had thought she could do!! Great adventure.

We did a 5 calanque boat tour out of Cassis and it was truly spectacular. The wind had been blowing and so the waves were quite large and our little boat was tossed around significantly. It was a bit sketchy, but we made it back to port safely, though wet. Wow! What an experience. My mom was sitting on the... More

Absolutely gorgeous view and wonderful nature. We have a choice of visiting 3, 5 or 8 calanques. I think 5 is sufficient - the boat ride takes approximately 1 hour.

We only had a day in Cassis. We purposely drove there after Marseilles (we were staying in Vaison La Romaine) and the drive wasnt that bad. We got there faster than expected. The seaside with all the restaurants and the boats docked reminded me a little of Vancouver. The streets were a little on the hilly side (we've had to... More
