The mines at Rammelsberg are great to visit. Our guide (not pre-booked) spoke German and English. We took two tours into the mountan. Espacially the one to the older parts (follwing the waterloop) is very interesting.

We went to Rammelsberg because our kids wanted to see the mine from the inside, and we have read on their website that kids would be able to play miners, so they were a bit disappointed when it turned out it was only for pre-booked group tours. We were given the choice of 2 diffeerent guided tours in the mine...

The mines are a must see. Very informative. Great experience.
We didn't know that you have to book for English tour guide and when we purchased the ticket at door, they didn't even tell us it's only in German, so we had no idea what the person was talking about. You don't really have to go inside, nothing much to see.
It was an interesting trip, I went with my high school class during our exchange program. It was fun riding into the mine in small mining cars. I recommend it to all, unless you are claustrophobic !!!!
