This was a neat castle to visit....specatcular views from the castle.....a bit touristy and I thought the 10 euro admission was by far the most we spent at any attraction on this trip. No photos permitted inside....and the cost gets you through about 10 sparsely furnished rooms.....interesting but not bad, some intersting history of the family there.

Nice castle to visit, with interesting history and it offers tours in different languages. Long walk up the hill to the castle, but for a small fee one can take a shuttle bus from the parking area up to the entrance of the castle.

the car park is not close to teh castle, so one needs to park and walk. A tough walk up many, many steps but it is worth it. The views are amazing at the top.

We had this castle on our bucket list, and it did not disappoint. The staff forbid photography (and I don't understand why, since you can't buy photos in the gift shop.) Limited area to tour; but the setting and what you can see is great.

The size of the carpark is the warning. Germans love this place too! Well worth the effort - even if you take the bus up the hill. An extraordinary testimony to the builder's folly and wealth, must be the biggest never-lived-in pad in the world. Wonderful site, astonishing fortress and well-preserved despite the obvious challenge of size and age. Good... More

I love visiting the castles in Germany. Schloss Neuenschwanstein in Füssen in my favourite, but it is a long drive away. So as a viable alternative we often take our visitors to Burg Hohenzollern, which is great in good weather. The grounds are also nice and the children love exploring. Certainly worth a visit or more!

SO worth the trip. When you see it in the distance you think that is exaclty my idea of what a castle should be!

I've been to this castle a few times now. I was there a couple weeks ago when my daughter was here visiting. We had to park at the highest parking lot and walk up (not for the faint hearted... it's about 20-25 minutes uphill). I love the castle! My daughter liked it better than Neuschwanstein because the Hohenzollern has more... More

Beautiful castle. The walk up is a bit steep - not for those in poor health. At the end of the tour they will lock you in a vault for about 15 minutes - to keep anyone from stealin jewels I suppose, but if you need a restroom better leave the tour early!

We took the train from Stuttgart to Hechingen (definitely cheaper to get a group pass if there are more than two of you travelling) and then the shuttle bus from the station to the castle (it’s a 10-15min drive and costs around 3 Euros). Be warned though that the first shuttle back down the mountain leaves just after 4pm so... More
