It's great to take the funicular up and then walk back down to Königswinter. Beautiful views! Don't miss the 1-euro coin-operated machine that shows a tableaux of Siegfried and the dragon :-)

We went up the Drachenfels as part of our rail journey tour so couldn't choose the day. Unfortunately on the day we visited there was low cloud all round and you couldn't see any of the anticipated views. Having said that the tour around the castle was superb. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable. At the end of the tour...

You really need to find the tram station a few blocks up the hill in Konigswinter. Very worthwhile and not expensive. This is technically a rack railway. It takes you to your choice of stops, either the Schloss Drachenburg or at the top of the mountain is Nibulungenhalle, a "dragon lair". If you have the time do all three. It's...

When I lived in Germany for 3 years i spent some time every summer visiting here. There are fantastic views of the Rhine from up here and the railway to the top is quite an experience.
I love in Cologne and have wanted to visit the Drachenfels since I moved here. I was not disappointed. It was a beautiful sunny day and the views from the top are absolutely amazing. There is a train up to the top but I decided to take the footpath as it was a really sunny day and there was a...

Take the tram right up to the top. Terrific Rhine views and a new bistro which is a nice spot for lunch or refreshments.
You can travel by tram from Bonn to Konigswinter. If traveling by car, there is a huge parking on the road going up to the castle or at the many parkings located in the town of Koningswinter. The castle and the garden are worth a visit (about one hour). The old ruins are on the top of the hill.
Even on a cold, blustery, December day, this was a fun excursion. Needing a bit of exercise, I enjoyed the hike up. The views of the river below are fabulous. Don't forget your camera!
Great place to spend a spring day. Though the train ride to the top is OK, maybe not worth the money if you don't mind walking up hill. If you do take the train up, walk down or you will miss some nice views.
To day I was showing my friends the Bonn city. When I show them everything in city I decided to look it up some place from trip advisor and I found this place Drachenfels and we went there from the Bonn main station. But this app trip advisor doesn't show direction by it's self but using Google maps since it...
