If you like photography, walking, seaside and nature you will love this. Corfe castle looms over the villages a nice view but not worth paying to go in there unless you like empty castles. Swanage is nice for a fish dinner and a walk on the beach. Durdle door is magnificent to look at,probably the most photographed part of the jurassic coast.... More

We stayed at two sites one at Corfe Castle & one at Charmouth both belonged to the camping & caravaning club. Both sites were of a high standard and gave us good bases to explore the isle of Purbeck, isle of Portland & the Jurassic coast. The thatched villages and towns inland & on the coast were a treat to see without... Dorset is a lovely area in England. We really enjoyed the scenery. We were at a relaxed pace, and stopped by whenever something caught our attention e.g. the viewpoints, some alpacas, villages, etc.

We stayed for a week in Charmouth over New Year. Wet and windy but the children love fossil hunting and there are lots of small ammonites and bellemnite fossils to find on the beach. WARNING: don't allow children to climb on the cliffs; they are muddy - shoes WILL get lost, and there is always a danger of rockfalls. Start... More

We went to Exmouth the other day and were told (by a friendly lady - thankyou) about a wildlife trail on the Maer local Nature Reserve, so we went. When we got there, the kids used my iPhone to open a website (all the info you need is signposted next to the playground it seems) to follow the bugs on... More

We took a boat trip from Exmouth along this coast line, truely the best way. Some sections are inaccessible by foot but the boat takes you so close and they give a brilliant commentary about the coast Excellent walks from exmouth too!

And I trust my dog's opinion more than my wife or friends - Seriously though its breathtaking and free - Walked the first part of cliff path from Beer to Branscombe cut down cliffs onto beach and walked along beach to Branscombe - stopped for a pint then back along cliff top back to Beer again - views are stunning

This is a beautiful coastline, well worth visiting. But be very careful which parts you visit particularly with active children and teenagers. Some parts of the coastal footpath are very exposed. Its possible you may find yourself walking on narrow paths with several hundred feet drop adjacent.

Word of advice. Do not park in the main beach car parks - they are a rip off unless you have a hot, sunny day and want to spend the whole day on the beach. We had poor weather so only wanted to park for an hour or so - not the whole afternoon. In the smaller car parks you... More

Great coastline with really nice different views from all the different coasts and coves. Worthwhile a visit at Charmouth or Lyme Regis for Fossil walks or even searching for them yourself. Nice little museum on the coast in Lyme Regis Lots of B&B's to choose from along the coastline Great award winning museum at lyme regis on fossils and local... More
