We were staying in Mykonos and took the ferry over for a morning trip of Delos. The ferries go to the island at 9, 10 and 11 and they return to Mykonos at 12, 1:30 and 3. To actually see and do everything takes 3 + hours. We wandered through the ruins and read the signs that explained everything first... More

Although well known in the ardent archeological world the significance of this place to someone like myself with a casual interest in ancient history was I have to confess largely unknown. A trip here was on offer from the fantastic eastern Med cruise we were taking with Celebrity. The ship docked in Mykonos and we took a short ferry over... More

After a 45 minute boat ride, we were astonded by the size of the city that used to be. A very good and inexpensive day out with no entry fee as it is out of season and a 7euro return boat fare. We toured close to the whole island in 5 hours and even made the walk to the very... More

While there are many places I have reviewed for TripAdvisor that I have given 5 stars, for Delos I wish I could give even a higher rating - perhaps 7 or 8 stars! It is truly remarkable! An incredible place, and so many factors combine to make it so special - its location (as an island), the incredible blue water... More

I visited several years ago but the ancient Greeks kept their land like a perpetual museum, specially this amazing island that we got to on a small boat from the island of Mykonos right off our pier by the Hotel Petasos, we even say a burly greek man beating an octupus by the pier. The island has a museum but... More

Delos is fantastic and definitely worth a visit if you're staying nearby. We paid for a tour which was a good buy as otherwise we wouldn't really have had a clue what we were looking at and Joanna made everything come to life. It's really windy on the island so make sure you have something warm with you and wear... More

The settlement at Delos is the size of a small town and could take up to a day to explore. We started with the domestic residences that lead up to the Theater and worked our way back to the Agora and sacred precinct. We followed the main road past the slave market and moved beyond the Temple of Apollo and... More

The tiny island of Delos is an interesting place to visit. The lions of Delos line the sacred way but they are replicas. The actual lions are in the small museum just up the hill a little bit and this museum is well worth a visit. Delos is the reputed birthplace of Apollo. It was once the principal commercial and... Hola all! Travelled to Delos on our own. Delos is unique ruins as it is an island that has not had any further building on it other than the ruis themselves. Take the ferry over (17 euro/person and it takes half an hour). The ferries leave at 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00 and return at 12:00, 1:30 and 3:00. It is... More
