The church is very pretty and the crooked spire is unique and interesting. The people in the shop are friendly. We are a lesbian couple and felt welcome.

If you have never seen a crooked spire, Chesterfield is the place to visit. Not only does it have the most wonderful open-air market and very friendly people but the church spire is beautiful. Watch as the sun goes down and marvel at the way it looks against the early evening sky. There are numerous tales about how it got... More

This parish church has a special feel - as though prayers from hundreds of years before, still linger there. It is a beautifully proportioned building, well-maintained. There is old stained glass and new ones to see, and an excellent tour of the tower at times - lots of steps but a great view of the town on a clear day!... More

Crowning the town is the spectacular church spire of St Mary and All Saints that has become twisted over hundreds of years when green wood was used by inexperienced carpenters of the era. I would recommend that any visitor makes their way to the top of the spire to learn about... More

Monday morning in Chesterfield - the place was buzzing! Great Monday market (indoor and outdoor) and lots of interesting small shops in the Shambles area and a terrific atmosphere. Well worth a visit for the day or longer with lots to do in the area and craning your neck to see that amazing crooked spire - how does it stay... More
