A beautiful building very welcoming to visitors.Interesting displays, the tapestry cushions showing the history of Ripon were particularly good, also the crypt.

This was a peaceful place to pray and recall the roots of our civilization.

We were extremely interested by the history and architecture of the cathedral. We were lucky enough to have a chat with one of the local clergy, doing attendant duty, and he showed us an ancient carving above the fifteenth century misericords, which you need a modern torch to see, and which is a bit rude, but obviously the carvers thought... If you've visited York or Durham cathedrals, don't expect this to be as grand. It's pleasant enough on the inside, despite the solid, plain exterior stonework. Didnt go inside it like we did last time, but its a magnificent cathedral in what is quite a small town, but of course having the cathedral makes it a city. Wait till the evening and take a picture of its facade glowing in the sun.

The Cathedral is really beautiful. The welded sculptures of Mary and Child were excellent. Cathedrals usually drip with opulence and this one didn't disappoint on that front. Take a look at the 3 organs! Amazing. And we were lucky enough to hear the wedding march being played on them during our visit as there was a wedding in progress.
