We enjoyed our visit to this holy place. Good friendly staff at visitor centre. It is worth a stop. It is well kept. Will visit it again. more

Not worth visiting. Yes, it is fascinating to think about how this was built hundreds of years ago, but the 15 minute drive from town to get there followed by the 150 yard walk down the trail to the Oratory wasn’t the best use of our time. The movie was more about Southern Ireland than it was about the Oratory.... more

Very well preserved, it's impressive to go back to the past by seeing/touching/getting into that oratory. It's a nice place to get into the Irish countryside, with a beautiful scenery around. The visitor center and the people are really helpful, and we learn a lot from them. It is a place to see, and a history to know if you're... more

I'm a sucker for prehistoric rock stuff, and the Dingle peninsular is loaded with it. The Gallarus Oratory doesn't fit the category of prehistoric since it is from the 600-700's AD, and is known to have been a church, but it's every bit as exciting and interesting to see and study as the stuff that's 4,000 years old. Well worth... more

The Gallarus Oratory is the highlight of the Dingle Peninsula. The church is over a thousand years old and still waterproof. It is well worth the drive from the town of Dingle. This was one of our highlights in all of Ireland. We were there in March 2008 (the off season). There was no admission fee and no other tourists... more

We saw pictures of this old church before our trip and decided to stop on our driving tour of the Dingle Peninsula. We were not disappointed--it is in an isolated spot off the road and since it was October, there were no other people around. Free parking is located up a narrow lane with a short walk to the church... more

If you are on the Dingel Penninsula, you definitely have to do the oratory, as it is probably the area's most famous attraction, one of the oldest, and really doesn't take long at all to do. That being said, I was not particularly wowed by it. Sure its really old but well-preserved, and sure the craftsmanship in stacking the stones... more

This is one of my favourite places in Ireland and I have been fortunate enough to visit it on four occasions in the past twelve years. The Gallarus Oratory lies in isolated splendour in quiet fields beyond Dingle Town. Its shape has been likened to that of an upturned boat, and it is the only one of its kind still... more

Best site on the Dingle peninsula by far. Amazing preservation of one of the most unique ancient buildings to be found in Ireland. Well worth the couple of euros which includes very informative audio visual presentation at the visitor centre.Very helpful and friendly staff there too. more
