The castle is not far from dublin and surrounding areas. It has always been seen as the place to go to walk and relax for generations of local. Perhaps Malahide is nicer in the summer when you can see the grounds properly, but that is about the highlight of the place. Malahide Castle is in a lovely setting. Only a portion of the main building can be visited. I feel a bit taken by its promotion as a Castle. From my perspective it is nothing more than a manor house. It does have some interesting history...but not so much for my tastes that I would have bothered making the trip out.... more
