Malahide castle is a very interesting place and the tour could be really interesting however I paid 7.50 for my ticket and then got added with about 5 more people to a multilingual tour group of 33. They seemed to have a guide who was asked 'was it ok if the public came too' I have to say I found... more

in all the reviews, no one mentioned that you had to walk like a mile before you got to the castle from the train. I was short on time as someone had given me the wrong train, right platform but wrong train to board. get a map from the counter where you buy your ticket, no one seems to know... more

Went to Malahide Castle last weekend and decided on Coffee just before 5pm. Was served and then went to a table to enjoy. Staff then told me the cafe was take away only after 5pm, it was still before 5 at this stage. Guy in a suit with an attitude to match arrived and ordered everyone out of the cafe,... more

The castle is not far from dublin and surrounding areas. It has always been seen as the place to go to walk and relax for generations of local. I emphasise the stroll in the grounds and lawns/greenery which are far more impressive than the castle itself. Sometimes there are events or sports taking place in the grounds. Tourists might like... more

Perhaps Malahide is nicer in the summer when you can see the grounds properly, but that is about the highlight of the place. We went a couple of weeks ago and it was pouring with rain which obviously didn't help, but irregardless of the weather I wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone. From the train station it is a really... more

The castle was lovely indeed, but I'd booked myself on the morning Dublin Bus tour in the hope of seeing the gardens which open at...2pm, which of course I didn't know. Anyway, the castle itself and the drive along Dublin bay on the way back are definitely worth the trip more

We arrived just in time to take the tour. This is a castle rich in history, but yet is small enough to feel like it was once someone's home. On display are some wonderful examples of furniture from the period as well as some lovely art. The castle is said to be haunted by someone known as Puck (although he... more

If you pick up the bus tour in city centre Dublin, the trip is approximately 3 hours and about 25 Euros. The bus travels all along the coast and up to the castle. It a great way to see everything for little time and money. The castle and the gounds are beautiful. The tour guides are very helpful and you... more

If you are looking for extravagance or luxuries, this is not the castle. Malahide Castle is a charming place. For a relaxing and lovely afternoon, take the time to stroll the grounds and garden. more

Malahide Castle is in a lovely setting. Only a portion of the main building can be visited. I feel a bit taken by its promotion as a Castle. From my perspective it is nothing more than a manor house. It does have some interesting history...but not so much for my tastes that I would have bothered making the trip out.... more
