Darina and Tim the "porn-chef" Allen of Ballymaloe Cookery School somehow believe that they are above the law. They have posted a profit of 250,000 euros for the past financial year, but we are all still waiting for our refunds. I alone am owed $17,000AUD in fees plus $4,000AUD in airfares. Darina and Tim Allen need to be held accountable... More

I have just finished a 2.5 day course at this great little cookery school. It was a combination of practical and demonstrations with plenty of handouts to take home. Although not cheap, I cannot reccomend this course enough to all budding chefs. The variety of dishes cooked was good, everything was super tasty, locally sourced, seasonal and fresh. The teachers... Ballymaloe is a magical, organic farm and cookery school in Cork,Ireland. The 3 day course consists of very comprehensive dems and lots of hands-on cooking. All the food we produced was totally delicious and we returned home re-inspired and with renewed confidence. You can be assured of a warm Irish welcome - nothing was too much trouble. There are lots of interesting local pubs... More

We attended a very pleasant afternoon session recently given by Rachel Allen and despite my initial skepticism (not crazy about cookery demos), I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it very much. The afternoon sessions can be attended by anyone and at a cost of €70 per person is not cheap, but could be considered as a special treat. Arrival was... More

If you can do a course here. Wonderful spot and amazing teaching school built up here by Darina Allen. If you cannot do a course just visit and walk the gardens etc. It is a diamond in this gorgeous East Cork.

Darina, Rory and Rachel actually believe in what they are doing. This means the cookery classes and demos come from the heart. I don't have any scientific evidence to prove that eating fresh, natural, unprocessed, organic food makes you healthier but as you get to sample everything that's made and it all tastes delicious I am willing to give them... I had heard about Ballymaloe from a work colleague who had done courses there when she lived in the UK & she highly recommened that I should go.So my husband bought me a day course- Christmas part 3. There was a brief description only of the day, so in reality I was going in blind, purely on the basis of... More

On the face of it, this 12 week course was the answer to everything that I craved. The Allens live by a credo that I wholeheartedly support. Organics, sensitive animal husbandry, whilst working in a visually rich environment. The kitchens are gorgeous, overlooking the 100 acre farmland. I had attended a number of short courses in Australia and was frustrated... More

Dear Hardworking Citizens, I cried when I realised that my hopes and dreams had been vanquished at Ballymaloe. I entered the cookery course with the dream of developing my love of cooking, I considered myself to be a good cook who had travelled widely in the world and was now eager to learn from the best and most renowned food... This course ran for 2 1/2 days with 3 demos and 2 practical sessions. This was an extremely well organised course run by Rachel Allen and her team. The school is located in a beautiful part of County Cork, within a 100 acre organic farm, and beautiful extensive gardens where all the produce for the course is sourced. Highly recommended... More
