Worth going to, not so much for the Landing site, but pics of Clifden you get from the area!

The track is very rough and only wide enough for one car. It was interesting to visit though as the history books tell you that they landed in a bog. What it does not tell you is that the area is littered with huge boulders and they were either very lucky or very skillful to land sucessfully!

Another great spot to stop at for views and to read about the landing of the plane.

If you know the history of trans-Atlantic flight, this is worth visiting just to see what it would have been like. The site is not easy to find and is in a sheep pasture - probably not much different than the day they crash landed! If you are going by, stop, but don't go out of your way to go... More

Definitely worth a look, for the sense of history. Just head out of town on Bridge Street and follow your nose. There's no problem driving right up to the Marconi station and the original memorial; you just have to open one gate (and remember to close it behind you). The road's a little rough but I've driven on plenty worse.

The Alcock and Brown memorial is on a hill accessed by a rough and muddy path and not very well sign posted. The landing site is across the bog from the memorial - again, not well sign posted. But a very wet, muddy and boggy drive to a bog in the middle of nowhere. However worth a visit to see the... More

There are two parts. One has a new monument and is very interesting to read. The second, the actual site, is harder to find. This is next to the Marconi Building and again is worth the trip. If you are interested in flight this is a must to see.

As said there is a nice monument with a lovely view going up a small road opposite the road going down to the landing site. The landing site itself is a whole lot of nothing but I enjoyed that it was nothing. There are a couple of signs to describe both the Marconi Wireless station and the landing site but... More
