A wonderful example of a 16th century castle, restored extremely well with wonderful examples of 16th century building techniques. A great history of the O'Flaherty's, the castle itself and being able to explore the grounds along with the castle made a terrific experience for anyone. We are going back because you can't ever see enough.

We went a few years ago and to my recollection there was publicity about bats living in the castle. We thought this was great and it made it even more enjoyable. Lovely place to sit on a sunny day.

Aughnanure is definitely worth going of the beaten track to visit, it is beautifully restored and a great asset to Oughterard.
