We recently visited Doolin - staying at the camp site. We visted O'Connors for a pint of Guiness and ended up staying all night! The food was great, the Guiness lovely, the live music was excellent. O'Connors is the place where the musicians sit at a table, not on a stage. That made it all the more welcoming for me to jump in with a couple of songs. Spent over a week in the Doolin area and in at least one of the 3 pubs most of those nights. McDermotts has the best Beef stew - hands down. Gus O'Connors has the best atmosphere and music; McGann's was a bit stand-offish and not a terribly friendly place. Service in all these pubs and County Clare in general: god-awful.... more

Great atmosphere, good food and cold drinks. You will run into people from all over the world here, don't miss it. But, I would go to McCann's down the road for music- smaller, more intimate and more of the "locals" will be there than at O'Connors, but do them both if you have time. more
