Fantastic Raccoon Experience at Millets Farm!
Visited the centre for the Raccoon Experience for my 21st and couldn’t have enjoyed it more. The keeper Phil was excellent, knowledgeable and friendly and the three raccoons, Miko, Bandit and Rocket were so cute and gentle and it was so lovely to get up close to them and feed them treats as they show off their skills/tricks. Such incredible and intelligent animals. Great value for money and would definitely go back to do the experience again. 10/10!

Special experience - meet the meerkats/ falconry display
We had a lovely day out at Millets farm this week. We were booked for the meerkat experience and very much enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with the meerkats in their enclosure, feed them and learn so many interesting facts about them. The falconry display was also excellent. All those working at the centre are clearly passionate about their roles and happy to spend time answering questions and talking about the birds and animals in their care. Outside the centre there were 2 alpacas/ goats and cafe facilities. Ideal for a 1/2 day excursion.

    Nice little place
We visited for the first time, was expecting to see the crocodile house but it wasn’t open yet, would have appreciated being told on arrival. Lots of different species of birds of prey, sadly didn’t get to see the meerkats as there was a group experience and we couldn’t get to see them due to spectators and it is very limited space. Overall was a nice hour spent there.

    Ben was awesome
Booked the owl experience for two and although the front of house staff are a little blunt, we had the experience of a lifetime. I can’t thank Ben enough for taking the time and effort to make it perfect. We were guided through flying the owls between us and what Ben didn’t know about each owl he displayed wasn’t worth knowing. Highly recommend and we will be booking other experiences there for sure.

    What a lovely place
We did the meerkat experience here and it was fabulous, the guy was knowledgeable, funny and really sweet, you could tell he loved the meerkats. We got to stroke them, feed them and learn about them over half an hour. very reasonably priced for the experience, and a small group. The only downside is the site is massive and the website doesn't show that well enough so we actually didn't spend the day there when we easily could have. we will definitely return, a great day out!

    Amazing meerkat experience!!!
Amazing meerkat experience! I took my daughters to Millets for a 30 minute meet the meerkat’s experience and it was brilliant! We got to sit in the meerkat enclosure and had a really informative talk with the keeper; he was knowledgeable and very passionate about the animals. When they were feeling comfortable with us being there we were able to feed them and it was such fun as the meerkats climbed all over us. The animals seemed really happy and looked very well cared for. It was a great experience and my daughters are desperate to visit again. Thank you!!

    Fantastic meerkat experience
My boyfriend and I visited Millets Wildside for a Meerkat experience that he had brought me as a birthday present. It was an amazing experience, the meerkats were very happy and well cared for. Them were allowed a few minutes to get used to us before we started feeding them, when they proceeded to climb all over us and allow us to stroke them. The keeper was very knowledgable and gave a wonderful speech all about the meerkats. We also went to a bird talk where the commentator was engaging and highlighted some key misconceptions about Vultures which was enlightening. There are plenty of birds to see at the centre as well as another animals such as Wallabies and Marmosets. We spent ~2.5hours at the centre. I truly loved my day out at the falconry centre and would recommend the experience to anyone who loves animals.

    First class experience
Fantastic value for money, open Easter Monday. The falconry display was amazing, never seen a cookaburra in action. Then the wallaby walkabout, walking amongst roaming wallabies was delightful. We're actually going back in today for the 3pm falconry display with different birds between shows :)

    Great day out
I visited Millets this weekend as I was gifted a 30 minute Raccoon experience. When we arrived at the centre the lady at reception was really helpful and welcoming. We had some time before the experience and got to have a look around Wildside which was great, the birds of prey are beautiful. The raccoon experience was definitely the highlight, the keeper was so so knowledgeable and friendly, and a real joy to listen too. After the experience, we were lucky to see a bird show, where the keepers there were also very knowledgeable. The staff here clearly care a lot about their animals. I especially loved the Vultures, and have a new found love and respect for them We attended as a couple. but this would definitely be an excellent day out for children too, with lots to do for them.

My partner and I did the Wildlife experience at Millets with the trainer Ben and what an incredible experience it was! Ben is one of the most passionate and knowledgable people there is when it comes to Animal behaviour. He introduced us to an incredible Snake named Bully, we got to feed the sweet and playful wallabies and then got taken to meet the incredible Racoons! Sadly due to a legislation change we were not allowed to physically interact with the Racoons specifically but that didn't take away from the day. The racoons were such playful and intelligent creatures, it was a pleasure learning so much about them and the rest of the animals at Millets. Ben was fantastic and I genuinely can't wait to come back again.

We went to Millets Wildside on March 17th 2024 for the Really Wild Encounter, including Meet the Raccoons. Despite the sanctuary being a relatively enjoyable experience, with our animal expert Ben bringing the encounter to life, we were really disappointed to learn that the legislation has changed meaning we cannot sit in or play with the raccoons themselves - especially as the experience is called “Meet the Raccoons”. Despite the encounter still being enjoyable, we were glad that this experience did not cost us as it was part of a pre-bought gift voucher, as I would be extremely unhappy to have paid £45+ per person for the experience, as the main reason for it could not be satisfied. We understand that this is not the fault of Millets Wildside, however we would really urge them to change the name of the experience or put more information explaining that you will not be “meeting” the raccoons, but more rather watching them through the cage. Additionally, a large majority of the enclosures were empty for refurbishment. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable different experience for us, but we would probably not return again for the cost.

We came for the meerkat experience and thoroughly enjoyed it! Ben, our host, was welcoming, warm and friendly and very knowledgeable.
Would definitely recommend and 100% will do it again, the meerkats are clearly well looked after and very happy, inquisitive little mammals. An experience for all

We booked the falconry taster as we have a keen interest in birds. This did not disappoint. Harry the falconer was great, very informative and it was clear that he was very knowledgeable and passionate about the birds. We got to meet and fly lots of different birds including kestrel, owls, vultures, hawks and falcons. We really enjoyed this experience. It was also great being able to spend time seeing all the other birds, a lot of variety and a great place to visit. Will be returning again.

I can’t even begin to describe the customer service I received without even stepping foot in the place…

I found this place online with a video of two friendly raccoons roaming round their enclosure with guests being able to feed them whilst being involved in the enclosure. I saw a few videos showcasing this same experience so I looked up the website as I thought this would be an amazing experience for my partner for our anniversary as he loves raccoons.

The title of this experience was “The Really Wild Encounter inc Meet the Raccoons” upon reading the details of this experience, I can see it’s quite a vague description of what this experience actually entails ..

This was written as per below

“Your experience will start with a brief safety talk and introduction some of the worlds most amazing animals, from Raccoons and Meerkats to Wallaby's and Owls This is a chance to meet an exciting mixture of our wonderful animals.”

Then a paragraph talking about learning about their quirky behaviours.
I then saw a few more videos/photos of people being outside of the enclosure and taking photos, so was confused of what the experience actually was.

I checked the T&Cs and saw that under Cancellation section 4 it showed the following point -

“4. Please dress according to the weather and with the Meerkat and Raccoon encounters long sleeved tops, long trousers and closed toe shoes are required and must be worn for entry in to the experience and you are likely to get dirty.”

So I was under the impression that this still was an experience so I would go ahead and book and just double check the details with a quick follow up email. The cancellation section I saw said that less than 14 days wouldn’t be accepted so I knew I would still be able to get a refund as id booked this 10th February for something on the 8th March.

I received a response back from my email stating that the raccoon experience was no longer available and that they no longer allow any member of the public to have physical contact with them. They explained that there were still contact with other animals but the raccoons was a talk and a 20 minute watch of a trainer with the raccoon.. which I feel £80 for an experience that specifically says “meet the raccoons” isn’t really doing that.
I understand that the ticket includes other animals but if the ticket specifically states “meet the raccoons” you’d imagine it meant that.

I advised that this wasn’t what I paid for and if I could have a full refund back as I’d only paid for it the day before. I had a response back that all of the T&Cs are listed and I would have ticked and agreed which I did as the section still mentioned “raccoon and meerkat encounters” with customers wearing long sleeved clothing.. so assumed this was still a thing?

I outlined my disappointment and how the terms and conditions are slightly conflicting for an experience that is no longer available so shouldn’t be on the website.

I was told multiple times that I should have read T&Cs because under “Gift Vouchers/Experiences” section 2 says that all vouchers/monies paid are non refundable. Which I guess on my part I didn’t see but the raccoon/meerkat part is also under cancellation section which isn’t valid for experiences under section 4 so it’s easily misunderstood.

My original email was on the 10th, where we had back and forth responses, however no resolution. No response was replied after my final response on the 10th so I emailed on the 14th asking if I could have a response.
I was then told nothing can be done until James who I assume is manager/owner is back from holiday.

I then had a response back on the 20th to which thankfully I had a full refund, if I didn’t I probably would have gone through legal advices for a mis-sold product.

Despite having my refund I was replied to from the manager/owner of the place James who told me they “couldn’t be bothered to argue” so gave me a refund and also asked me “not to book again as I’ve cost them money” which I wouldn’t after all the hassle. I also find it strange how I cost them money after I messaged a day after booking and in a month in advance of the booking. I was also told was that I had “missed out on an experience you can’t get anywhere else” so almost trying to guilt me into having my rightful refund back?
This response is absolutely appalling for a new customer, in no way did I try arguing which in an email I stated I wasn’t arguing and just disappointed due to a large amount of money being paid.

Very upset for a place I was originally excited to visit. I think it’s necessary for the website to have a disclaimer, stating that the raccoon encounter is no longer full contact. As I’m sure there will be more customers, like myself, who have seen videos online and assumed the experience has not changed.

Wow, we done the "really wild encounter" on 13th Feb 24 and it was just amazing. Alyssa was absolutely brilliant, showing us the animals and so informative. You can clearly see how passionate she is about her job. We started off feeding the meerkats, then moved on to handling the two adorable burrowing owls. Next, we fed the wallabies, and Alyssa got Sidney the kookaburra to show his amazing vocals. The last stop was the raccoons who showed off their skills. They are absolutely gorgeous and amazing, as a person obsessed with raccoons, this was the icing on the cake. The birds are all gorgeous and definitely recommend the flying displays. Thankyou millets for an amazing experience. Now we're planning to book another one 😀

owl experience we had with Alex. She and the experience (and the owls) were amazing. She was very informative, confident and friendly. We learnt lots as complete novices! It was also our first time at Millets and we have recommended it to lots of family and friends already. Great mixture of fun for all ages!

A great day out, falconry section and display was brilliant.
We did the ‘Really Wild Encounter’ with the mammals as well with Alyssa who was good fun and clearly loved the animals she worked with! Got to get very up close to the animals: meerkats, raccoons and wallabies.

I bought a 2 person Meerkat experience and it was for my husbands birthday! It was a fantastic experience and the Meerkats were very friendly! The 30 mins was enough time to get real hands on time and Jonathan who provided the expert information and experience from Millets was both knowledgeable, patient and interesting. A real bargain of an experience and topped off with a superb falconry display! Lovely staff, experienced and friendly - Great value for money day out
