The cave is wonderful with a lovely little boat ride through the cavern. I would not recommend it though to anyone who cannot walk up and down at least 20 steps. There are lifts to the base and back up and you can see most of the cave but the best parts are up some steps (approximately 300). I took... More

This is more than a cave with stalactites and stalacmites. It is an unground river in a cavern 300 feet (103 meters) beneath the surface. You can walk down 500 steps or ride three elevators to the bottom. As you walk along the path to the boats that await you, you can see and hear the river rushing beside you.... More

One of the best cave we've ever seen. We've been visiting some caves in US, but this one is special. There's vertical drop which you can take stair or elevator to go down, walkway inside, and then continue taking a gondola for underground river then follow by walking up down inside. There're so many different type of pattern inside and... More

If you are anywhere near this place you must visit. It is an amazing natural phenonomen. If you do get the chance please take it. There is an incredible set of caves with an underground river which has the best arrangement of stalagtites and stalagmites I have ever seen. They by far exceed Cheddar caves, or those in Cuba which... More

We visited in May and the queues were non-existent. There was an option of a lift down but we wanted to walk down and enjoy it all. It was quite a way, but well worth the effort. It gets a bit chilly down there (of course, it's underground), so it was good that we took jackets. When we got to... More

This is a must see place especially if it is a wet day. The tour includes a boat trip and impressive stalactites and stalacmites. The commentary is in French, but thats ok. Be advised, you will need a fleece or jumper. Not really for the infirm.

Liked: the cool away from the hot summer sun, the underground boat trip on the lake, the rock formations. Disliked - nothing really. Not a place to visit with a wheelchair or pushchair there is a lift down into the cavern.

Padirac is a decent cave system. It does not have as interesting formations as I've seen in many of the caves in the U.S. but it is still worth the trip to visit. The cave itself is at the bottom of a large and very impressive hole in the ground. There are many, many steps involved if you choose to... More

I visited this with my Mother, and it really blew me away! There was an option of using the lift to the bottom which although we didn't use on the way down, we used on the return. The caves were absolutely stunning, and when we arrived at the little boats, the river trip so far underground was spacious, beautiful and... More

Visited on a Sunday in August - 1 hr 45 min drive from the Northern Dordogne to get there and greeted by a 1 hr 45 min queue to get in. BUT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT - fantastic cave system, unique in my experience of having a boat trip to get into the cave. After the boat trip there... More
