It is always an amazing experience to pat a glacier. Nigardsbreen is one of the few easy accessible glaciers in Europe. Wonderful scenery. Long drive to get there, but it is worth doing it.

We took an excursion to this glacier and stayed for about 90 minutes - far too short. Once we dis-embarked the coach in the car park we took a small boat over to the shore line. It took a further 20 minutes to get near the glacier which had a safety rope to prevent people straying without a guide.

This is a great place to visit. The scenery on the road getting there is beautiful. The visitors center is very interesting. You can drive down to the parking lot near the glacier and hike over from there around the lake. There is a 30 kr toll for the road. You can also book a number of different guided walks...
