The scenery on this trip was amazing but it was a very long day to do it.We took a 5 hour+ boat trip from Bergen, then the Flam railway line then train back to Bergen.

Positives: Rail rider dream come true. Steep rocky walls, snow caps, water falls, green valleys and plateaus, tunnels, 180 degree turns.
Negatives: seating is 2-aisle-3. Knee to knee;shoulder to shoulder. 35 seats (?) to a train car. Windows on my car did not open- it got stuffy. No open or high window observation cars. Although the train moves slowly, with...

This train ride is a good experience. There is a little surprise in the form of a waterfall just before you reach the top. It is a must see/ feel. It is best to take a triangle to Oslo. Don't miss the frozen lakes on either side.
it doesn't go for very long - but it is through beautiful scenic area and the vintage train is delightful
We thoroughly enjoyed the train trip to Flam. Bring your camera! And if you go in the off season, you are able to move side to side in the car for photos. Large spacious cars, with an historic feel.
The train ride and views are quite enjoyable!
If you are travelling in a large group, please be respectful towards couples and solo travelers. Running around the train opening and closing the windows every two seconds and shouting at your friends can be distracting to other travelers. I would strongly encourage anyone visiting the area to relax and enjoy the...

The scenery is spectacular, but the train was quite crowded.
While the scenery was majestic, the train was crowded and the explanation of the route difficult to follow. It was okay but a bit cheesy and not jaw-dropping.
As well as our Norwegian friends, we did not know what to expect. The train leaves an arm of Aurlandsfjord and travels up a steep route for 20 kms, and up 1,000 m., winding its way along the steep valley past waterfalls, through tunnels and fantastic scenery. It stops at the top and goes down 1/2 hour later. Quote from...
