Vila Nova de Fozcoa it’s a little village on Douro’s International Protected Area, not very lively but friendly and cozy, great to stay the night (there’s some cozy lodging places in the area) and to eat (friendly budget restaurants with traditional food). When you arrive in the village of Freixo de Numão, simply follow the signs for "Ruinas". It is well signed and easy to find. By the way, just in the other direction, up the street from the first sign in the town center, there is a very nice bakery. It's a very small village, you can't get lost.
