This mosque is exquisite! The carpet and chandelier are impressive. Everything is intricate and carried out with the utmost of care. Truely something to see. I was fortunate because somene in my group got to talking to a guy who had a key to the minerets and we were able to go up in one and get a great view.... More

This is by far the best masjid in the whole of Oman and UAE. The architecture of this masjid is more closer to Islamic architecture while comparing it with the Sheikh Zayed Masjid in Abu Dhabi. The courtyard is also very beautiful. A must visit for any body in Muscat.

When you walk in you instantly feel a peaceful aura about you!. Its quiet and you can soak in the beautiful architecture from the outside. When you walk in you hear water which makes something about the moque even more peaceful and calm. The carpet and the chandelier inside the main prayer hall is beautiful! It is said that the... More

Make sure you are wearing the right clothes, no shorts for men. You can always visit the shop and buy a robe. The grounds outside are well groomed and the halls are enchanting. You are allowed to take pictures. There is also an information centre where they will explain you about Islam and the mosque. Well worth a visit.

Amazingly beautiful and peaceful! Limited hours 8-11am, not open on Friday to the public. For ladies, wrists and ankles must be covered and hair. It is well worth the small effort to cover. The mosaics along the outer corridors are breathtaking. If you get a chance, visit the library, some great books on Muscat. A few very peaceful hours!

If you can do just one think during your visit to Muscat, make it the Grand Mosque. The mosque is stunning and one can spend several hours admiring the architecture, the columns, the inlays in the wall panel etc. But what really takes your breath away is the central dome. There are no words to describle the beauty of the... More

Definitely worth a visit if you are in Muscat. The main (mens) prayer hall is so ornate and the large central swarovski crystal chandelier is just amazing.

One of the most breath-taking man made structures you will ever see. We only had an hour and it just was not long enough to take it all in. So many photo opp's and so little time! Ladies, be sure you have a cover for your head. And read the signs regarding expected behavior - don't be one of THOSE... More
