A well informed guided tour is worthwhile. Much to see and learn from the experience.

The museum is cleverly designed, leading you through the history of the Australian military from it's first engagements to today's expeditionary forces.
A very thoughtful, tasteful and fascinating museum. The japanese sub raids on sydney harbor display and the WWII displays are the most interesting (for me). I'd recommend at least half a day here. Allow a whole day to visit the AWM - there is so much to see. The collections are fantastically presented. The Vietnam exhibition uses lighting, video and effects to present an amazing experience. Make sure you stay till 5pm when a lone piper or bugler plays the closing ceremony, it is very moving. A truly amazing memorial to the young...

A very well put together museum. Allow a minimum of 3 hours to see or spend all day there like I did! Truly fascinating place and one that you can see more than once.
