Not sure if there was any meaning to the fountain but the sculptures were pretty. It's just located opposite side of the road from the cathedral. Good landmark.
A great place to stop and take a breath while exploring Sydney. Situated at the harbour end of Hyde Park this fountain contains statues of the gods and myths of ancient Greece. It sparkles during both day and night . Down side is that it sometimes there are so many tourists you have to wait to get some good photos.
stunning sculpture - great oasis in the city.... shame about the removal of the trees lately -but im sure theres some reason for it - it was great when the fountain was full enclosed by the fig trees.............

Excellent resting place with a view when visiting the gardens and walking up from the War memorial. The War Memorial is well worth a visit also. Pleasant walk with excellent gardens and plants.
Within walking distance of most parts of the CBD Sydney. Within the beautiful Hyde Park not far from St. Mary's Cathedral and Macquarie Street with eary Sydney building preserved. Also, close to Sydney premier shopping Centre Point and QVB.
Admittedly this place if full of tourists, but it's a great spot to take a well earned rest on the grass and to do some people watching.
