We visited Sydney earlier this year and decided to try the Museum of Sydney Cafe for breakfast. On the plus side, the breakfast was excellent. Great ingredients, well cooked and presented. Sadly this was utterly let down by some of the worst service I have ever experienced. The Irish waitress in question was surly, rude and had the temerity to... More

We had brunch in the cafe downstairs so thought we would pop in and have a look. Its only a small museum but there is a lot of interesting exhibits and they keep changing. Shows a little of the original building. Also has a movie room showing old films of Sydney. Worth a look

Worth a look at, great displays of early Sydney. Nice little cafe outside.

Comparisons are odious, but all I could think about when I visited this museum was how much better the much bigger Otago Settlers' Museum in the much smaller Dunedin NZ does the job of displaying and interpreting historical evidence about its city. Sydney is at least 40 times bigger than Dunedin, and has one of the richest histories in the... More

I didn't find the museum to be too engaging.. not very interactive. It seemed more of a sit down and watch some videos type of place, which I could just do from my computer. Artifacts weren't much to speak of. I enjoyed the outdoor cafe more than the museum itself.

If it were not for the "Home Front – Wartime Sydney" war exhibition, I would have asked for my entry fee back. MOS was modern but unless we missed something, I thought someone had stolen the exhibits!! There was too much reading on blocks and why would you showcase someone’s cultural jamming against governments! MOS should show tangible and relevant... More

i hadnt been to the museum for years and we really enjoyed taking two toddlers for half a day - there's lots more interactive exhibits than you'll remember so dont panic if the kids wander off - getting around with a pram is a bit tricky but you'll survive

The phographic exhibition on it's own was spellbinding even for my 10year old daugher. The interactive areas were engaging for kids and adults alike. I always love the dinosaurs!

This is a good history of Sydney, its people, and land. Visit Sydney and learn how the colony became its own identity. The museum is in a very modern building in the CBD. There are some exhibitions located outside and your experience begins there. The timeline goes from the first settlers to current culture. Currently there is an exhibition on... More
