Make sure you spend some time exploring the Botanic Gardens while in Sydney. Even if parks aren't your thing this is a great place to see some views of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Harbour in general or to just relax and people watch. Beautiful spot to get pictures of Opera House with Bridge behind it. The grounds are very well kept and they have signs that say Please walk on the grass, The birds we saw were unique. And the bats, wow that was amazing (and not at all creepy). We spent a whole morning here one day. Do not miss it. more

The botanic gardens have a prime spot along the waterfront - right next to the Opera House. I'm not that keen on plants, but there are some real stunners in here. A stroll through parts of the gardens is well worth it, even if you are not an expert or extremely interested in plants. There are plenty of interesting sights, including birds (screeching cockatoos who let you take their photo up close), bats sleeping in the trees, fountains, palm trees, and of course a large variety of plants with interpretive signs.... more
