The things which captivate in relation to Sydney are its green belt which encompasses the Botanic Gardens, the undulating landscape and the water. A truly beautiful city. The Botanic Gardens is part of a green belt which snakes its way from the Harbour right through to the centre of the city. It gives this city a vibrant and living heart.

We enjoyed the gardens towards the end of the day in May, the lengthening shadows and the sunset behind the harbour bridge made this a wonderful place to while away an hour or so.

Beautiful green area close to the city centre. Great photo opportunities, birds, spiders... We have been there three times already, but planning of going back, because there is so much to see. Excellent!

This was my third trip to Sydney and had not been through these incredible gardens. We mostly walked through to go to the water, but the gardens were lovely, incredible and very family oriented with many fields of people playing soccer and rugby.

We lived in Woollomooloo for a week in December 2011, and went through the Royal Botanic Gardens every day with our children aged 3 and 4. We really enjoyed seeing the beautiful flowers and gardens, the birds and animals that live here, and all other surprises we got when we strolled through the gardens. The harbour view is one of... We initially made an enforced visit to the Gardens after the taxi dropped us of at the wrong place. I had a very sore toe and as a result was extremely grumpy and deep into victim mode. We had to walk to the garden in order to get to our original destination - the Art Museum. It was not too... More

It's big, and takes time to explore. Not a place to visit if you don't have long in Sydney. Excellent for people with an interest in plants, and it makes a curious contrast with the city high-rise that's so close.
