A beautiful place to walk with great views. Magnificent trees, wondrous birds, and the ocean at your side. Do not forget to walk on the grass. They have signs telling you to do so. This walk could take an hour or more and it is attached to all the major sites. more

Not sure there's anything new I can add to the other positive reviews. I'm not particularly interested in gardens but I loved these (as well as the completely different Chinese Garden of Friendship). The harbourside setting and sunny weather helps but essentially this is a very accessible and relaxing place with as much in the way of interesting plants as... more

The other reviewers are right, the Gardens are wonderful. The views are beautiful and I took many photos. Look for the bats in the trees near the tropical garden and nearby are cockatoos in the trees. I got great photos of them. I was there in July, winter in Australia, but it was very mild and many flowers were in... more

Make sure you spend some time exploring the Botanic Gardens while in Sydney. Even if parks aren't your thing this is a great place to see some views of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Harbour in general or to just relax and people watch. You can also use the walking route along the harbours edge to walk to Mrs MacQuaries... more

We arrived in Sydney at lunchtime and had the afternoon to do something, but were too tired to do anything inparticular so we had a wander through the botanic gardens. At the time they were getting ready for the new years celebrations but it was so peaceful and relaxing. The sights were amazing without having to do anything or pay... more

A peaceful oasis in the middle of the city, the Botanic Gardens offer spectacular and unique views of the harbour, Opera House and the bridge. The city skyline makes a dramatic backdrop to the gorgeous plant and animal life of the park. The wide open lawns offer a welcoming spot for a picnic. Peer up into the trees and spot... more

Beautiful spot to get pictures of Opera House with Bridge behind it. The grounds are very well kept and they have signs that say Please walk on the grass, The birds we saw were unique. And the bats, wow that was amazing (and not at all creepy). We spent a whole morning here one day. Do not miss it. more

The botanic gardens have a prime spot along the waterfront - right next to the Opera House. I'm not that keen on plants, but there are some real stunners in here. And the atmosphere in the gardens is a lot less hectic than the rest of the touristy bits of the city. The views of the city skyline through the... more

A stroll through parts of the gardens is well worth it, even if you are not an expert or extremely interested in plants. There are plenty of interesting sights, including birds (screeching cockatoos who let you take their photo up close), bats sleeping in the trees, fountains, palm trees, and of course a large variety of plants with interpretive signs.... more
