This is the absolute best outdoor cinema anywhere. You can go down with a picnic and eat on the grass before the movie and look out over the harbour or have dinner there. They serve various drinks as well. Just watching the screen lifting up slowly off the water is great entertainment. Sitting there watching the movie as boats go... More

Unfortuanely, we had pre-booked and ended up with a night of terrible weather. The location is perfect, but it also gave us a perfect view of the terrible thunder storming bearing down on us. It was difficult concertrating on the plot as we all sat wondering if a lightening bolt hitting the huge main screen would fry all the wet... More

Came here with my sister and cousin, we're currently staying in Sydney, living and working for the next 6 months. We decided to go to the cinema as we'd heard it was 'amazing' so we went down and queued up for a couple of hours as we didn't have tickets. We took some food and some wine and made sure... More

The screen rises up out of the water, the audience sips their champagne and settles in under blankets on the grandstand to watch a movie. It's something special! it's just better when it doesn't rain!!!

Good for an experience of outdoor movies with the Opera House as a backdrop, but an expensive way to see a movie, crowded with expensive food and drink available

Set near Mrs Macquarie's chair in the gardens with the Opera House, city and Harbour Bridge as the backdrop - wow! It runs from January to March and shows latest releases plus others. Great food and bar available. Tickets go on sale in December and sell out very quickly. An enchanted evening!!

I guess if you live in Sydney you could watch a movie here because you must eventually become used to seeing the Opera House, the bridge and the harbor. But visitors should be aware that they will be hard put to watch a movie with the Opera House and Bridge completely lit up behind the screen.

I love this event. We've been attending this cinema every summer for the last five years. We try and select at least two sessions, one big budget new release and an art-house type film. Even though the weather can occasionally put on it's own performance it is still well worth the visit. I have sat through an entire performance in... More
