I visited this museum 10 years ago in it's previous location and have always rated it as one of the best museums I've ever visited. Now, 10 years on, and with two daughters, it was on my 'must see' list while in Alice Springs. While the content is wonderful, it clearly needs an injection of funds, probably by a combination...

We were in Alice Springs over Easter and headed to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the Reptile Center which were both closed for the holiday. Next door was the Women's Hall of Fame. It's in an old jail (gaol) and was great. The exhibits were very interesting and well laid out. Our 14 year old daughter must have read...

This is fascinating - who knew there were so many pioneering women in Australian history? I browsed around in here for some time - there are just so many sectors and walks of life where women have been innovative and lead the way. It's inspirig and wonderful to see.
This is an excellent initiative. Anything a woman has poineered, and we can all contribute. Even if you're concerned about it being gender biased, you can appreciate all the things people have pioneered. And the old gaol - pretty much as bad as some you see now elsewhere in the world. Give yourself some time here.
Very interesting exhibits in an odd setting (the old prison) illustrating the amazing women of central Australia who helped to settle this huge and difficult region. Multiple stories happen here. It is in the old prison, so there is a story there. The NT government wanted to demolish it when it was decommisioned, in fact they had already started knowcking down parts of it, another story and finally there is the story of women contributing to Australian outlife.
History of the strong women influence in our outback heritage was quite interesting but in need of an upgrade.
Ok so not a world heritage site or anything like it, but a pleasant and informative place to visit.lace to spend a while
First a disclaimer: as a mere male, my interest was far more in checking out the former prison than the Women's Hall of Fame exhibited there. However, both my wife and daughter (a resident of AS) had researched the topic of pioneer women and their role in opening up Central Australia; both were captivated by the lives depicted here. Given...
