The 6 dollar self-guided tour gives you an idea of what it was like to live in Darwin while it was bombed during WWII. I went at the end of the wet season and it was extremely hot and humid in the tunnels. I would not advise the trip for the frail elderly, those with low vision, or very young... More

We went to the tunnels as I thought it would be ok, and fill some time. It ended up being quite interesting, and the kids enjoyed the photos and history. Not knowing much about Darwin before they arrived, they were fascinated to know that Australia had been bombed. It's not an overly long walk, so they kids don't get bored.... More

I am in my 50's and until visiting here did not really understand how close to being under siege Darwin and Australia were in WW2. A great part of history, surprisingly informative, comprehensive and thought-provoking

We had no idea what these would be like but the man at the entrance was very helpful and informative. We took lots of photos and found it so interesting. Probably not to everyone's taste but I found it great.

A peice of history,Dug entirely by hand into the cliff under the township. Mainy tunnels with one open to visit for a small fee. Much information on the Air raids during World War 2

We went on a self guided tour and were amazed at the size of the tunnels!!! They were built during World War II to protect Darwin's oil supplies from the Japanese raids. The 2 tunnels that are open for viewing are an engineering feat in themselves but were not finished before the end of the war so were not actually... More

You may as well check this out! Doesn't take long and it's very cheap and a great little slice of history. We did a self guided tour, I go urban exploring quite often so this was right up my alley. I wish there was a lot more to explore though!!

worth having a look at for sure, you wont need a cut lunch or anything it doesnt take long. get there early to listen to Peter the Repeater tell the story of the tunnells it's very interesting. The engineering of such tunnells for that time period is fantastic.
