Want to escape to the tranquility of paradise? Visit O'Reilly's in Lamington National Park. If you stay at the Retreat, your day can start with an early morning walk on any of the many trails or, as a special treat, you can go on a guided bird walk before their fantastic breakfast. The bird walk starts at the front of... More

This is definitely the best national park that we have visited in Australia. It is so peaceful and you have to see the birds that fly in the park as they are multicolored parrots which you can feed. A must see if you visit Queensland. The park is about 120 Kms from Brisbane city and will take about 2 hours... More

"Declared in 1915, Lamington National Park covers 20 590 ha and boasts extensive walking tracks along the McPherson Range, which allow visitors to explore the area's forests, creeks and waterfalls. Dramatic lookouts afford views over the Gold Coast, south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales." That's a brief overview of one of Australia's finest accessible rainforests. It's based on two... More

We had driven down from Brisbane via Beaudesert and Canungra. A spontaneous drive and not sure where we would end up. So after having a nice lunch in the Canungra Hotel and as the Lamington National Park Road is right outside the hotel we decided to take a short drive into the Canungra valley and return. However we enjoyed being... More

Behind the Gold Coast lays the Beauty of the Hinterlands ... Today we visited Lamington National Park. I agree the drive is challenging - we drove early in the morning and stopped briefly in the quaint town of Canungra. As we drove into the national park we saw kangaroos & wallabies, magpies & rosellas. The drive was lovely (but the... More

Thank you for taking the time to provide valuable feedback on your recent visit to the Gold Coast hinterland. It is wonderful that you had the opportunity to meet a number of the “locals” who reside within the Lamington National Park. We tend to agree that a stop over at Alpaca Farm or Kamarun Lookout is a great way to... More

I have travellled to the Gold Coast many times since I was a teenager, but until this year I never even knew about this place ... So glad I went there! This is a stunning National Park with an abundance of wildlife & some spectacular walks. The drive in is pretty challenging but on arrival there's a great coffee shop... More

Well This is one area you need to visit! Just 40 minutes from the Gold Coast and 50 minutes south of Brisbane city you arrive in a small village that is 125 years old known as Canungra. A great whistle stop for a quick walk around, visit the very extensive Tourist Information Centre where we discovered the area not only... More

This is a great area where you can see lots of wildlife (wallabies, koalas, birds), and the beautiful rainforest! We took a tour out of Brisbane and it was a great day trip! Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to see Australian wildlife! If you go through Allstate Scenic Tours there's even an opportunity to spot platypus!
