This is an old-fashioned animal park and sanctuary, and I find it charming and delightful. There's no amusement park, no parking lot full of tourist busses, and no parade of food stands, just a small park, plenty of native animals in close proximity, and a knowledgeable staff. We took the Mirimar Boat up to Lone Pine and spent most of the day there. There were lots of koalas, as you would expect, but also a large open area where you could feed and pet kangaroos. This koala sanctuary is a place that you must include in your visit to Australia. Just 40 min. north of Brisbane, easy to reach by public bus.
