We went to Southbank not knowing what to expect as we'd heard it wasvery touristy and we don't normally follow thew main tourist route. However, we were very pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful man made beach (not the half baked dirty attempts we have seen elsewhere) set in a beautiful setting with pleanty to see. There is an interesting... more

While in Brisbane, you should take the time to visit this attraction. Walk along the boardwalk and be amazed by the man-made beach. Excellent cafe's around as well as street markets on the weekends. more

I met my Fiance at southbank 7 years ago! we are getting Married in November this year. I live in Brisbane so I have been to Southbank many times. The view from southbank of the city at night is definately worth a look. There are many benches to sit at while you gaze across the river. There are manicured gardens... more

The artificial beach is as if it is totally natural. if faces out on to the Brisbane River. It is a fabulous destination to ride around on the bike and look at the beautiful city as you are riding by. It... more

Southbank is like a large hotel resort, but it is free and open to the public. It is almost in the downtown area of Brisbane -- just across the river from downtown -- and you can get there by foot from downtown across one of 2 bridges, or easily by bus or train from other parts of Brisbane. It is... more

We found this little gem whilst exploring Brisbane in the Summer, it was so beautiful, we were really surprised to find it. The location is a bit unassuming, tucked away by the town hall, but once you have scaled the heights of the stairs to reach the parklands you will see a sight, it is lush, green, and full of... more

Have some fun and take the water taxi from the city over to South Bank (5-10mins once you're underway). The man-made beach is probably it's biggest claim to fame, complete with lifeguards! South Bank also has a ton of outdoor shops, restaurants and even a craft market on the weekends. The craft market is of excellent quality and has high... more

Southbank was so beautiful. You can go swimming in a lagoon or in the artificial beach while looking out over the brisbane river and onto the city. With cafe's and shops it is just a wonderful place to go to escape the heat. more
