Most rides closed, overpriced entry fee
Today, my husband, 2 children (aged 9 and 12) and I, came to visit the park. We paid £88 to enter and we find out that every single rollercoaster is not running. How can you charge that much for the few small rides?. The small rides which were open, some were not manned so we had to go searching for staff to let us go on (the staff were excellent) In my opinion the rides were only suitable for much younger kids under 10 years. If the rides are going to be closed and least you would expect a lower the entry fee. This is our first time visiting Oakwood Theme Park and unfortunately it would be our last.
Hi, In January we announced a $2M project on our signature ride and much loved coaster Megafobia. The project, which started immediately following the conclusion of the 2022 Season is due to be completed at the earliest in late May, and means that the ride remains inoperable throughout this time. Given the significance of Megafobia in our portfolio, our initial intention had been to begin the 2023 Season in late May, to coincide with the school Whitsun holidays rather than the traditional Easter opening. However, we recognise that a number of guests, particularly those who do not meet the height requirement for Megafobia may still wish to visit, and as such, when we released our 2023 Calendar in mid-March we announced a pirate themed event for the Easter holidays, utilising a selection of rides in our Neverland and Spooky Street areas, aimed at a younger audience. This information was displayed throughout our website, including the website homepage which included a map of the operating rides, the dedicated event page, and throughout our ticketing pages. Tickets were offered on a ‘Kids Go Free’ basis, further emphasising the targeted and expected younger audience. Our decision to begin our season on a reduced offering basis, taken in light of the ongoing Megafobia project, is reflective of similar offerings by other UK theme parks, at the beginning of their respective seasons. We look forward to opening the remainder of our park alongside Megafobia, once the project is concluded. As has been the case since we first announced the project, updates will continue to be posted on our website. Kind regards, Oakwood Theme Park

    Worst amusement park in UK
More run down than the Pripyat amusement park, shame really I loved this place as a kid. I went with my small family and they enjoyed the rides that were open but I don't understand how they can charge adults to go in with onlu one adult ride open (virtigo which is 15 quid extra). They can say it's due to upgrade or refurbishment but that's all rubbish nobody is working on the rides they just can't afford to run all the attractions with so little people going. There is more avaliable in pop up fairs seriously don't bother. Was only in there an hour or so, only reason I didn't give a 1 star was the staff were friendly to my children.

    Loved it!!
I feel like we fell on a good day.. the weather was really nice. We arrived and I tried to book alongside my blue light card.. member of staff told me, we could only have the discount when booked online. I had no signal so he put the staff Wi-Fi on for me. He made us aware that drenched and the wooden rollercoaster was closed so the price has been reflected with this. Once in.. i was surprised how many rides there was … we didn’t have to que much.. which was a bonus. I thought the staff was really helpful and friendly. There was only 2 options for food/drinks places open..,which I get; they can’t have them all open on non busy days. However.. there was 1 member of staff manning the orders/drinks etc… He was stressed and didn’t stop.. the food is around £11 for chicken/chips and a drink. Dressings are cheap crap… There was no healthy no fried option. I would 100% recommend taking a pack up… The resort is very poorly sign posted and I feel you need a map.. we booked the vertigo swing.. if you book online it’s half price… We had a fantastic day…. It’s tired and old but I think it’s amazing value for money.

    Had a great time
Went with my 11 year old daughter. Not sure what all the bad reviews are about to be honest, we had a great time. No there aren't a lot of signs, but it's a medium/small park so you can literally see most of the rides from virtually anywhere. Yes it's a little tired in places, but so are many parks. Just don't go expecting DisneyLand and you'll have a good time.

    5* Prices 3* Experience
More expensive than Thorpe Park and Alton Towers this Summer! The value for money doesn’t stop there. We grabbed ourself a bargain, for our 13 year old, in the cafe. A small pizza and drink for £19.20! Megaphobia & Drenched both closed. For anyone thinking of visiting and spending their hard earnt money this Summer, strap yourselves in, the soaring prices will give you a thrill you won’t forget. If Oakwood was priced at £20 a ticket you’d get what you had paid for. 5* prices, 3* experience.

    Quiet and clean
We have been several times before and noticed a big difference this time. It was clean and friendly but very quiet for a sunny day in Summer school holidays. Most rides were open at some stage during the day but we had to wait for staff to leave one ride and open another. We had 3 children under 10 and there were plenty of rides for them to enjoy. We felt safe and well taken care of. However the park is now understaffed and not as popular as before. Maybe there is a lack of funding and planning for the future. However all the negative reviews have not helped. We are Welsh, happy to support our only theme park and would be sorry to see it close. We certainly had a fun family day out.

Fun, safe and friendly if a little costly
I’m glad I went without reading these reviews. Took three children yesterday to celebrate a birthday. We had an absolutely lovely day out! The staff were all lovely and went out of their way to be helpful and kind to all of us. The grounds are clean and green with plenty of places to picnic- we took our own lunch because none of us are keen on fast food. The rides were loads of fun and due to the park being almost empty we didn’t have to queue. More often than not we could stay on for another go! There was something to please the tweens and the smaller child in our party and keep us all entertained all day. The cost was expensive though! I paid £146 for one adult and three children. I can see why this would be beyond a budget for just day out. Overall a really positive experience, thank you team Oakwood!

    Could be so much better
We dropped our three teens here whilst we did cultural stuff further afield. Tl;dr they walked the mile back to Bluestone after two hours because they ran out of things to do. I called that morning to check if the rides were open. All bar Drench (shut for refurbishment). Well that wasn't true, as Megafobia was shut. The kids told us that the food was "ok" but e.g. no ketchup and v expensive. Luckily we got a special offer of £80 for 4 tickets but for something resembling "Funland" from Father Ted it was still expensive and disappointing. I think it trades as 'Wales' only/biggest theme park" but I assume that those around Wrexham, Rhyl, Cardiff and Newport just make the schlep to Alton Towers.

    A pleasant day out
Went with my family and weren't expecting much due to the tales we had heard and the reviews however the park is lovely. Has a nice range of rides for older children and younger children, including water rides and the staff were all extremely pleasant and accommodating. Only downfall was that the food prices were too expensive for a family of 8 as every meal was roughly £10 so bringing packed lunch would be best as they have plenty of benches and seating areas.
Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent experience. We're thrilled you enjoyed your day out and felt there were a nice range of rides for both older and younger children. Your kind comments will be passed onto the team! Thank you for your feedback regarding the catering prices. We hope you visit the park again when you're next in the area. Best wishes, Oakwood Theme Park

    Disappointed
Glad we used Tesco double point vouchers to purchase tickets for this park. This park is very dated and need a vast amount of money throwing at it. General appearance is shabby, rides are really slow loading and some are not used to their full potential. For instance, my grandchildren went on the plane ride in Neverland. Was told by the operator that they only go round and the planes don’t lift up in the air after 3:00pm due to the ware on the rides mechanism? REALLY? Some rides were still being tested after the 10:30am official opening time, told to wait or come back in 20 minutes? Then to make matters worse we had a Whole park power cut 15 minutes after opening, no rides were working and this was not the first this season I was told by staff. The park and rides look very under staffed. Overall day was ok, but wouldn’t be returning.

Amazing day out taking out my pupils to Oakwood! The staff were lovely and friendly, the ride operations were excellent and I can happily say we all enjoyed! The food was delightful and came quickly and the chips were mouth watering. One of my pupils dragged me on the waterfall ride and I got drenched haha! Overall lovely day out will be coming again next year only thing I disliked was the wasps and seagulls chasing me around! Haha thank you for the lovely day Oakwood theme park.

Blessed with the weather on the day.lashing rain before hand.First time here and would not return.lots of rides not open and no Halloween experience till nearly closing time. With kids we had everything done in 2 hours.Place was outdated and not great to be honest for the money we spent.Food was awful too so if your going to go bring a picnic. My advice is go to Folly Farm as that place is amazing for cheaper with alot more attractions and stuff for kids.plus cheaper and better food.

No words.. except Halloween spooktacular didn’t exist until later in the day, we were not made aware of this at the time of booking. Most of the rides were closed and the ones that were open sounded very rickety and unsafe. The sitting area at Woodys, the restaurant was dirty, with dead flies and cobwebs on the windowsill by the tables. Don’t think it has been cleaned or the site maintained since the 90s.

Although the park is a bit tired looking compared to others like Paultons, the rides were great (loved Megaphobia) and the staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful. It was a quiet day due to the weather, so despite it being half term, no queueing (went on Megaphobia 4 times). Loved the green surroundings and the lights in the evening. Will definitely be back!

Overpriced and very run down, everything looked like it needed a lick of paint. The are ares where the pavements are covered in moss, which is a slipping hazzard in wet weather.
It made me think, if the general things weren't maintained, how well are the rides maintained?

Brilliant family day out
We came bank holiday in august and it was brilliant. No queues for anything and the rides were fab. Only drenched wasn’t open. We walked on megafobia, speed and bounce! The kids absolutely loved neverland and went on the rides over and over. Face painting was brilliant too. We took a picnic and went back to the car to eat it - the menu looked very
Pricey inside. You get stamped, so you could even go to town and get a McDonald’s or something and come back. We planned to stay for the fireworks but the kids got too tied so we spent from 10am until 6pm there. The kids had such a good day out. We used to go as kids and stopped as it got so run down but they’re definitely improving it. The gift shop was really decently priced too. Highly recommend for families with young children.

Hello I was at oakwood theme park today where a member of the public assaulted me after his wife stood on my glasses and refused to apologise. This happened after leaving the mega phobia ride where I approached the lady who had stood on my glasses just before taking her seat to set off on the ride. Once the ride was over i checked to assess how bad they were and unfortunately they were bent beyond repair and I dont have the best sight and needed them to travel back home to Cardiff with my children. The woman and her family walked off immediately so I caught up with them to see of she would give at the very least an apology, on doing this her partner ( I am assuming) threw himself on me grabbing my arm and knocking me back. My son who is an able young boy protected me by trying to restrain the man and ultimately managed to stop the man from full on attacking me. The man Must of realised quickly what he had done as he and his daughter apoligised and my son shook his hand.
I am going to attach photos of the injuries.
Minutes later the manager and two others were just standing there and my son had to approach them to engage with him. They instantly judged me and my son and very lax and unsupportive. I tried to let me children carry on with there day, as my son is my full time carer as I am physically disabled and suffer with type 2 bipolar. I am about to have a kidney operation to which is why we booked a two night stay away In Narberth, however because of the bipolar i have to process things at a pace and when I was able to speak without crying I went to reception where I was greeted by a gentleman named Lee, i asked if he was aware of the situation and once again I was looked at like I was in the wrong and that I wasn't a guest on there property who had just been assaulted. I was and still am in disbelief at the lack of compassion, I requested for the footage and was told to wait for a man named Phil. Who turn out to be the first man I had spoken with, he went on to say that the footage doesn't look good on my son and that my son punches the man where he did no such thing, as you can imagine he does react with instincts to protect his disabled mum and a further struggle took place but quickly stopped but it was quite upsetting, another member of the public who hadnt seen the man go for me first assumed my son was the instigator so i was not happy about that and felt ganged up on and intimidated all round. my son works as a full time welder in an apprentiship and then has to care for me as a paid carer. He works extremely hard and we needed a well deserved break before my second surgery I have a mass on my kidney so he didn't want me injured prior to having the surgery take place as the op was pushed back due to covid. We were looked down on and judged and I realised that I had a bruised lump on my arm and my leg,

Going back to where we were greeted by Phil at reception he was very dismissive and was passive aggressive and no apologies or compassion whatsoever were made, he was leading the conversation and powering over me interupting me when i was speaking, to a point where when i mentioned i was disabled he was bold enough to tell me he was the man who recieved my emails and knew my first name and asked me for my sirname twice. Insinuating that he was the man in charge and this is how its going to be, my son had to converse with him where he then was challnged and said the conversation wasnt going anywhere and to take it to the police which i thought was extrmeme and left, my daughter recorded the conversation and I'll happily forward that when I have a reply to this as my attempts with this gentleman was awful, I treat everyone with courtesy and I've never been in an establishment with such a good reputation to be assaulted and disrespected by the stafff my son and daughters and my trip was completely ruined and I asked to be compensated as I have never experienced any thing like that in my entire life.

Can I have some correspondence with someone with a bit more moral decency please as this is very bad behaviour and I am a human and nobody should experience this

Over-priced. Underwhelming. Dirty. Dangerous. Staff are disengaged. Food on site is poor quality and close to inedible. A number of the rides were closed so I paid a small fortune for my family to walk around a shabby, poorly maintained, giant garden. The owners need to invest or close before someone gets hurt.
