We have visited a number of times over the years. It gets better each time. Excellent that you can take your own food and keep the costs down. Guides are very knowledgable. Allow a full day if you want to make the most of the various keeper talks and bus tours.

This would have to be the best zoo my wife and I have visited, we also recommend to other people Auckland Zoo (Auckland), Adelaide Zoo, Toronga Zoo (Sydney), but I must say Monarto is great, the zoo is run by over 100 volunteers, the staff are very friendly, one is driven around the plains by bus which includes a tour... This was our second visit to the zoo, after having visited 9 years ago, and wow - there have been some great developments! The zoo is less than an hour from Adelaide so an easy day trip. It was 24C and you wouldn't want it much warmer because there is little shade during the walks. You need to walk if... More

It is a great day out for the family and we enjoyed it every step of the way. We got up close to monkeys, cheetas, lions, giraffe and a rhino. Its funny when your child thinks its ok for a Lioness to stalk them and safe behind large enclosure fencing. Bring water and a hat if the weather is hot.... More

While staying in Nairne with family we decided to make the trip to monarto zoo having heard good reviews but we were all disappointed ( 4 adults 7 kids ). Main reason being was we got off on every bus escort through out the park waiting up to 20minutes for each bus only to be waiting a further 20minutes when... More

This place is about 1.5 hours from Adelide but well worth the trip - the Driveway is about 5km long before you even get to the ticket box TAKE a HAT and lots of water as there is LITTLE shade and it can get VERY hot out there

We four adults intended to spend a couple of hours there but ended up more than four and yet there were plenty of other things, like the get-up-close type experiences and talks that we didn't get to do. There is a great system of air-conditioned shuttle buses with friendly and knowledgeable guides giving commentary and that can get you up... More

We took the 2 zoo pass option which includes Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Zoo and you get the second zoo for half price. Monarto zoo was really well looked after with great facilities at each stop. You go around in an airconditioned bus with running commentary from your tour guide. There are viewing platforms which you can stop at anytime... More

If you are looking for a unique place to spend the day with children and the opportunity to see some unique wildlife the Monarto Zoo is for you. Monarto is an open plan Zoo housing mainly African open range animals. You can walk if you must, however buses provide a constant service belween the enclosures and the viewing platforms and... More

Allow an hour from Adelaide to drive south along the Southeastern Freeway, or catch a bus out to visit this Open Plain Zoo, and spend a whole day at this park where you can view African animals in a habitat which resembles the real thing. Of course there is also an Australia component with an enclosure of endangered Yellow Footed... More
