Took the bike decent tour in mid December 2009 and this was one of the best things we did on our trip to Australia / New Zealand! What an adventure, and very well organized. The tour company provided instruction, helmets, jackets, gloves, and had a biking leader with a van to follow. We are in our early 50's with others... more

Tricky road to the top. Many walking trails. Some of the tracks were quite steep (Silver Falls), while others were across rock slides but passable (Organ Pipe). We did the Mt Wellington Descent last month when we came to Hobart for a long weekend. Highly recommend the trip, it was heaps of fun and I'd seriously do it again if I came back. Most fun thing in Tassie by far. more

It is not different than any other mountain might offer. You need to rent a car, but it is an easy short drive with many signs to point the way. Fantastic views all around, a little bit of history to read about and guide to show you what you are looking at. It will be windy and cold! more

Mount Wellington is not on any public transport route so we reluctantly hired a car. On the day we visited in August 2006, it had snowed in the preceding 12 hours. It was a pleasant winter landscape, and the limited amount of walking one could do was enjoyable. The views were great, as the skies were reasonably clear. An interesting... more
