This has to be the most interesting restaurant strip has to offer. Its still a bit dull even on a Saturday night. There are a couple of fancy restaurants as well as decent joints.

The visitors dine at Salamca, the locals dine at North Hobart. In the strip beween Burnett Street and the Post Office is Hobart's best concentration of restaurants and take aways. The prices are competative and most, if not all, are "bring your own" wine. Not to be missed. A short bus ride or walk, to Central Hobart

Main Road, North Hobart from Burnett St northwards for a few blocks. There are numerous restaurants lining either side of the road. A new Japanese restaurant has opened not far from the Burnett St intersection and the take away I had recently was very good. Well worth a try. The Renown Milk Bar takes you back in time with their... More

This is where Hobart locals go for better value restaurants than the tourist areas

Ok, so I live in North Hobart, so perhaps I'm biased. But if you feel like a bite to eat and you're not sure what, the stretch of Elizabeth Street between Burnett and Federal Streets offers a wide variety of options. For fine dining try Solicit or Segreto. The Republic Bar on the corner of Burnett offers great gastropub fare,... More

The eateries in this suburb of Hobart are just fantastic. within walking distance of the centre of Hobart. There are also other niche market shops here as well.

A small but diverse strip of cafes and restaurants to suit most tastes and budgets. And the art house cinema is in the same strip. It is a leisurely walk from the waterfront - say, 20 minutes. Great and accessible if, like us, you prefer to avoid driving everywhere if you can. You won't go hungry. What they lack in... More

A good selection of restaurants and cafes, as well as a great grungy pub called The Alley Cat Bar.
