this was much better than the Queen Vic market. Great deals and a beautiful display of foods. And easy to reach by trams.

South Melbourne Market is a busy market used mainly used by the area's locals residents. This market which opened in 1992, has become well known for fresh baked goods, produce and seafood.

Great food at good price and great buzzy ambience. Famous for the dim sims but there is food from all different countries. Also fresh fruit and vegetables are good value. There are other things like clothes, shoes, home wares, jewellery etc and these are affordable and often unique.
Excellent food choices - deli's, fresh fish (including shellfish/fresh oysters), great meat choices and fantastic fresh fruit and veg. Lots of choice in coffee shops, dim sum and other small restaurants - especially around the fringes of the market. As for the rest - pretty generic. I'm sure there are some stalls that are unique though - I've always immersed...

This market is great for food and deli items, but it also has other interesting stalls for jewellery, home wares and clothing. It's very easy to get to by tram. You must try the famous dim sims and the freshly cooked risotto at the spanish restaurant outside is a treat. Great atmosphere and friendly people. As a visitor, it was...

This is a great place to go for fresh produce, deli foods, bread, markets and lunch places. Open Friday Saturday and Sunday only I think. The Dim Sim places are legendary and it's hard to walk past the cake shops and cheese delis! A must for gastronomic travellers!
A free tram and short walk brought us to the Market. Large, buzzing with locals and visitors. Wonderful variety of fresh fruit, veg, gifts, clothes and shoes. You name it, they've got it. Food hall and restaurants nearby. Street entertainment excellent.
Arived at yet another market only to find friendly store holders great with interesting wares. Food stalls did have a good amount of local Victorian produce at reasonable prices if you look for them. After a walk around it was decition time, cake and coffe, deli food tapas or a restaurant. Great after noon not to be rushed.
just as good as victoria market with less hustle and buzzle, beautiful food and various shopping items to choose.
Smaller then The Queen Vic market, but just as nice if not better, for great food and friendly people. Had the best fresh shucked oysters ever.
