Lovely architecture. Fortunately this building was given a reprieve, and not demolished, but instead renovated. 1901, was the declaration of Australia as a nation. We celebrate this event every 26th of January. More

This buiding was renovated afew years back. Beautiful murals, an awesome interior. It was part of the world wide 'exhibitions' of 1888. Melbourne's Exhibition Buildings, the Eiffel towere and one other location, I thnk in the USA are the only rmeaning venues. Tip: right next door to the Melbourne Museum. More

Built for the Great Exhibition of the 1880s, this is a national treasure. The external architecture is impressive, but the internal is magnificient. Australia's first parliament was held here in 1901. Major events and exhibitions are held here and at times you will be torn between the exhibits and the building. It's a shell. The outside is magnificient, the inside a giant barn with a few interesting details but not much else. Don't pay to go inside, wait until there's an event held there you want to go to and then go. Otherwise, just check out the facade, it's the best part. More
