Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

- Stewarts Vacation1,035 contributionsBustling, historic transportation hubThis iconic building is worth a visit even if you don't need to use the bustling transport hub! It is a Melbourne city landmark - in particular, the row of clocks above the corner entrance on Flinders Street. The clocks were reportedly replaced in 1983 with digital readings, but after a huge public outcry, the old clocks were back within a day! A common meeting place is "under the clocks".Visited March 2023Written 31 March 2023

There is no access inside the building unless you're doing some train travel because everything is gated and has turnstiles that require tickets. It's a messy and noisy place as well so we did not feel very comfortable being here. You could just as easily visit the church across the street (St. Paul's) and then look back at the station.Visited March 2023Written 1 June 2023

Travelled via Flinders Street with my wife and family on many occasions whilst visiting Melbourne. It is the central hub for travel all over the city and beyond. The building itself is stunning, with easy signage to find your destination, simple click in/click out service providing a maximum daily cost via the MIKA card. There are plenty of shops, food stalls and restaurants for every taste.

A icon in CBD, the historical train station keeps working now to provide the public transportation service to people. Good place to take some photos. Enjoy.

It’s been a long time since my last visit to Melbourne so wanted the iconic photo at the front of the station. It’s kinda dirty, a few homeless around and it’s a quick photo op

Located in probably the busiest hub, of the CBD, is this historic, very very busy train station, however, well worth a visit.

What a beautiful station. And check out the photo I took at nighttime. Simply beautiful. The inside is a bit shabby and the staff were really quite grumpy.

This station is a cultural landmark in Melbourne city and busy public transport interchange. The architecture is very characteristic - dome, towers, clocks. Impressive building. Worth to visit.
