I walked in to join a 45 mins guided tour on the day. I was so looking forward to visit this cave to see the Glow worm and I paid NZ$ 35 enterance fee, which was a bit expensive. I was impressed by the underground cathedral and the guide is freindly and informative. However, possibly due to my high expectation,... more

Visited the Waitomo glow worm caves with Spellbound and our very down to earth and informative guide, Norm. Absolutely amazing and simply spellbound. Thoroughly recommend it. more

Visiting the Waitomo caves in Newzealand with Spellbound guide pete was the most informative and awesome experience I've had in years . The world must me thankful to those who try to preserve such treasures for the years to come . I hope the good work will continue and people could always marvel at the wonders of this planet we... more

We went on the Blackwater Rafting Compay's 'Black Abyss Tour' in Mar 08. Even tho' the water was 'low' it was awesome! 5 hours of underground adventure! I did a lot of reseach, and this was the tour in Waitomo that seemed to give the most 'bang' for the buck. The only downside for us (besides the cost) was there... more

Quick word on the Waitomo caves...We did the normal cave tour and we felt it was pretty over-rated. The staff have done a lot of hard work finding out odd-shaped stalactites and stlagmites which might resemble something (incl. elephant, inverted elephant, mother and child, old man etc etc) and keep showing them to tourists, but after 5 mins you realise... more

Did the 45 minute tour of the caves and it was the biggest waste of $35 dollars I have ever spent on an attraction. They do a three hour tour for $55 that I heard was a million times better. Unless you really love glow-worms DO NOT do the 45 minute tour. Just a waste of time! more

My husband and I took this trip over 2 years ago and we still talk about it today. This trip changed my life. I was afraid of heights and the 100+meter abseil was what made me nervous. I was inspired to take the proverbial plunge by an Eleanor Rosevelt quote : "You must do the things you think you cannot... more

What a disappointment! When we arrived at the caves we found out that rain over the past few days had raised the river level to the point where it was not possible to get into the boats. They do offer the tour at half price and free for kids when this happens and you do get to see a few... more

I undertook the Glowworm and Caves Tour arranged by Spellbound Limited. The tour lasted about 3½ hours and included tea and biscuits. Very good on a cold Winters day! The tour itself was very informative and covered all manor of information on glowworms and the caves we went into. I particularly liked the Moa bones on show in the second... more

Our tour of the caves began with our guide taking us through the cave network showing us all the stalagmites/stalactites etc... telling us that there are concerts held in the caves because of the great acoustics. She asked did anybody in our tour want to give it a try and sing a song, no body would do it so i... more
