Very interesting - meeting hall, governor's house and canoe. We visited on a warm, sunny day and the site is large to wonder around and the views very spectacular. There is also a very clean and friendly cafe if you are in need of refreshments.

Was on a cruise which went to the beautiful Bay of Islands. Whilst there visited the Waitangi Treaty House. The building is well preserved and the garden and grounds well maintained. This is such an important part of New Zealand history, being the signing place of the treaty between Britain and the maoris, that it should not be missed.
Good to look at this along with the Maori meeting house. The interesting facts about the walls of the house are good and there is lots of information to read.
This attraction is very nice if you are a foreigner but if you are a local forget it.
Recently I knew there had been a dispute between the government and local Maori over NZers having to pay to enter and the situation being resolved by locals being allowed in free but foreigners being charged NZ$25.

This visit took place in the week leading up to Waitangi Day. The weather was fabulous so walking around the property was breathtaking. Yes, there was no rain from the land of the long white cloud.
