The museum is very well put together and well maintained. The architecture is very open, with views of the park and modern water fountains. I enjoyed strolling through the permanent exhibits but didn't get a chance to see the feature exhibit "Degas to Dali". The museum is a free attraction which is nice, but I felt some "stuffiness" from the... More

As a onetime arts journalist, I value the opportunity to view again so many of my old favourites in a pleasant surrounding. The Korean flower in the foyer I find distracting, but am told it won't be forever. Function area seats and management inadequate

This gallery has hugely improved and is now a medium sized gallery worthy of Auckland. Apart from the standard and variety of the NZ collection, the special exhibition "Degas to Dali" was beautifully and effectively curated. The building and its extension are well integrated and there is a good coffee bar with access to outside areas. The building also integrates... More

Wonderful remodeling/redesign. This is an asset to Auckland. Went to Degas to Dali, but greatly enjoyed some of the permanent exhibitions. Also the building is a fantastic blend of classic and contemporary. However, there are lots of staff and there is very little interaction/acknowledgement/ or even smiles from them. Espresso Bar on the top level has a wonderful outlook to... More

The newly re-built Art Gallery is a great activity for all. Lots of interesting exhibitions if you don't like what is on the walls the arhcitecture and views of the park and trees are equally attractive! Lots of variety. Add to your must do in Auckland!

Located in the small and quiet side of Kitchener St., right in the heart of Auckland, this gallery was really 'art'. I enjoyed a whole day to walk inside it, just to watch everything, from 15th century's masterpiece to Maori portraits... Another fantastic thing was it was free for all, unless some special events might be happened.

We visited after the recent renovations had been completed. The architecture of the Art Gallery is excellent and fits the surroundings for the scale, and visual appeal. Inside the free exhibitions draw you in and invite you to keep walking even if you're not normally into art (like me). The building is not boring to look and and walk through... More

The gallery is easy to access and is in a wonderful building. There is a great permanent collection of New Zealand artists and other interesting exhibits at this time including kinetic sculpture, prints and Victorian art. The Degas to Dali exhibition is worth the $20.00 entrance fee. What a superb range of paintings and sculpture. Allow at least 2 hours... More

Love the new Auckland Art Gallery, great building, nice mix of NZ and international art displayed. Especially the large-scale works working very well with the building make it enjoyable.
