After reading about the wonderful shoppoig that Parnell provides, the experience left my family somewhat flat. Plenty of eating places, but the boutique shopping, left us feeling like the shop keepers were looking down their noses at us. Would have bought something there if there was anything unusual or worthwhile. Nice for a stroll only, and look at a diferent... more

After reading rave write-ups about Parnell in the Auckland magazines that were spread before me in the Hotel room. I took the LINK bus from Queen St to Parnell (about 10mins ride away) and stopped at the stopped at the 3rd stop along Parnell. The place was almost like a dead town. Enjoyed Parnell. It is a quaint little spot with many great bistros and coffee shops. Also there are a number of souvenir shops that offer different fare. The Lion Brewery is in the area but when I was there in September a local told me the Brewery had sold the land and was moving so I am not sure it... more

This is an older, restored little village. There are many specialty shops & some restaurants. This is fairly close to downtown Auckland and is pretty much walking distance. The Lion brewery is here also. If you're looking for a place to shop for gifts & items that are different from the average shop - this is the place to go. more
