We were exceptionally lucky to be guests at a wedding hosted at Te Mata Winery. The walk through the trees was beautiful. The meal was devine. The staff were the best we have ever encountered at any event. ps the wine is fabulous!!!!!!!

The wine is decent, but the bad signage that led us up to the wrong place (and had us meet with an upset man who just grumbled that it was a private residence--even though he turned out to be the owner--it would have been nice if he redirected us to the proper entrance.) This place makes first class wine, and the winery is an interesting building. Staff are knowledgeable and very friendly, they provide an excellent on line buying service too.

I really liked all the wines I tasted and the staff at the cellar door were interested in what I had to say. Nice environment and I was made to feel very welcome

We were impressed by the warm welcome from the staff at Te Mata Estate. We were given a 'behind the scenes' tour of the winery and a complimentary tasting. My favourite had to be the Gamay Noir, a juicy, easy drinking wine perfect with lunch. We look forward to our next visit!

Living near California's wine country, I've been to more wine tastings than I care to remember, but this one in the heart of New Zealand's north island wine country didn't stand out.
