It was only a 15 minute drive from town, free parking available. We bought the day / performance ticket at the entrance. The guided tour was short but to the point. Our guide had a great sense of humour and had an excellent knowledge about geysers / mudpools and Maori history. Don't miss the performance. They were fantastic. more

This is the only review you need to read. We visited Te Puia during our honeymoon stop in Rotorua. We wanted to experience traditional Maori traditions so booked the Hangi and Maori Concert. The evening started badly as Te Puia forgot to collect us from our hotel along with another person so we had to telephone the Te Puia office... more

Fantastic day. Very informative, but not down your throat. Go on the guided tour. I'm not into cultural shows but the war dance and dancing was very serious (i.e they were proud of what they were doing) but of course fun. Gyser and hot springs are well worth the visit. We went to 3 parks for this and Te Puia... more

I think the Maori have taken pity on the English speakers from outside of New Zealand. They now call and advertise -- the schools and the Thermal area as "Te Puia" and there is one admission price for all (in April 09 - but I'm unclear about the village -- we didn't go but I'm not sure why). You then... more

We had a sunny and wonderful day here. The Maori guide was very good. She brought us around to the Craft and Weaving school, then explain to us the purpose of the Marae and storage house. Next she brought us to see the Kiwi birds in the dark house. We then proceed to see some hot mud pools, and then... more

We visited Te Puia whilst in Rotorua. It was a brilliant afternoon and evening. It is a cultural centre for the Maoris and has good facilities and excellent helpful staff. Included in the price we paid, we got a guided tour, cultural performance and a meal. Plenty of hot springs and bubbling hot mud pools, all surrounded by a lovely... more
