If you are interested in the local volcanoes, geothermal activity and lake taupo caldera itself, visit this place. it is full of great info, movies of the recently erupting Ruapehu, and interactive displays.. It may need a bit of an update soon, but well worth the money. I particulalry enjoyed the great films in the theatre and the tornado making... more

I'm sure this use to be free years ago. Now they charge $$$ for mostly static exhibits all contained in one small room. I'm an ex-pat kiwi and this is a rip-off. more

small but very interesting with an earthquake experience and awesome large screen footage of recent eruptions of Mt Ruapehu. would take my family back there. more

We myself and my ten year old daughter visited the centre jan 08,interesting but very dated with the pictures, small screen videos very unclear. Looking through a microscope to see the difference between marble etc was terrible. 2 adults and 1 child was $24.00 which was a rip. Very faded and jaded more
