The weather for our journey was excellent. Blue skies, calm seas, clear autumn day. Our mid-morning sailing had few passengers overall, although the vehicle deck was full. The ferry departed Picton on time and arrived in Wellington with enough daylight hours for my family to continue our drive northwards for several hours before stopping. As usual the Interislander is just a means of getting from North to South. A real shame that the ferries always smell of urine.

I have bad memories of winter crossings during my youth for end of season rugby trips so I face each trip with some trepidation! This trip was quite the opposite! We where very lucky and had a very nice day for our cook strait crossing so the views of Wellington harbour and the sounds in the south island where lovely

there are quiet places and noisy places. Do yourself a favour and spend time wandering around the ship at the beginning to find yourself a comfortable seat. I had promised myself to do a Cruse on my 50th but events that took place and an AGM in Nelson dictated that the Interislander was to be my cruse I had a great time with a few close friends and my wife of 30 years we loved the Cruse and look forward to doing it again soon

Another trip in January, it only confirmed the previous experiences we've had. always friendly and helpful staff from the moment we drive through the first check in, on-board staff are always friendly and helpful.. well done to those who manage the experience that strait travelers have, the tourists must really love it, along with the locals of course, keep it...
