I am a local and walk here, but there are also car parks at the top and at the bottom. Park at the top if you want a fairly easy walk. I guess it is about 20 minutes from the car park return. Lovely views over the harbour entrance and across to the south island. I don't have any emotional...

Circular walk, go on a windy Wellington day and revel in the forces of nature! Minutes from the city - it feels wild and remote with a stark view of the south coast, breakers, rocks... The memorial is thought-provoking.

This memorial to the ANZACs and Turks involved in Gallipoli is set on a grassy knoll overlooking the south coast. There are benches to rest or picnic on. Perhaps choose a day with no wind (or at least not a southerly) as it is quite exposed.
