This historic cemetery has been beautifully preserved, with historic graves, saved from the urban motorway, and beautiful landscaped gardens - an urban oasis and a beautiful place to walk and reflect and explore the past. Walk down through the cemetery from the Botanical Gardens or the top of the cable car, and across the footbridge into the city.

After doing the Cable Car and the top end of the Botanical Gardens ... I always enjoy having coffee at the Rose Garden and then wandering down the hill through Wellington's oldest cemetary on the way to a tour of Parliament. The things locals do (and enjoy doing).

The Bolton Street cemetery is an historic cemetery on a steep hillside close to the CBD. The cemetery is really lovely. It's terraced, there are maps and directions to historic markers. This makes for a nice stroll, and the dash across the motorway bridge is nice too.
